Terms of Use

Last updated: 16 August 2026 · Applies to the Ducats and Dragons mobile app and this website.

In plain language. Ducats and Dragons is a free app for tracking your party's treasure. Use it sensibly, keep your password to yourself, and remember it is a fan-made hobby project rather than a bank: what you type in is yours, we do our best to keep it safe, but we cannot promise the app will never lose a session or go down.

1. These terms

These terms form an agreement between you and [LEGAL NAME], established in [CITY], the Netherlands ("we", "us"), the provider of the Ducats and Dragons app and this website. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

If you are under 18, you may only use the app with the permission of a parent or guardian.

2. What the app is

Ducats and Dragons is a bookkeeping tool for tabletop role-playing groups. It records fictional in-game currency and fictional items. It does not handle real money, real payments or anything of monetary value, and the balances it shows have no value outside your game.

The app is offered free of charge. There are no adverts, no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

3. Your account

  • You need an account, because parties are shared between devices. You can register with an email address and password, or sign in with Google or Apple.
  • Give us an email address that actually reaches you, and keep it current — it is how we would reach you about your account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using it.
  • One person, one account. Do not share it with your whole table.

4. Parties and invites

Anyone with a valid invite code can join a party and see everything in it: the party pot, every character purse, and the full transaction log including notes and who entered them. Share invite codes only with people you want to give that access. Codes expire and have a limited number of uses, but until they do, they work for whoever holds them.

The party owner can delete the party. When they do, the party pot, all character purses in it, and all transactions and items in those purses are permanently deleted for every member. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it for you.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the app for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or abuse other players;
  • put content into notes, party names or character names that is unlawful, hateful, or infringes someone else's rights;
  • attempt to break into accounts, parties or systems that are not yours, or to circumvent rate limits and other protections;
  • scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile or automate access to the app or its API beyond normal personal use;
  • disrupt the service — for example by overloading our servers or uploading anything designed to cause damage;
  • resell the app or offer it as a service of your own without our written permission.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or delete your account. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.

6. Your content

Everything you type into the app — party names, character names, item names, notes — stays yours. We claim no ownership over it. You grant us only the limited licence we need to store it, display it to the other members of your party, and back it up, for as long as you keep your account.

You are responsible for what you put in. Do not enter anyone else's personal data, and do not use the notes field for anything sensitive.

7. Our content and trademarks

The app, this website, their design, source code, logo and name are ours and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. That licence does not let you copy, modify or redistribute it.

Ducats and Dragons is an independent, unofficial fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC. Dungeons & Dragons, D&D and their logos are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC, used here only descriptively to say what the app is for.

8. The SRD 5.1 licence

The item catalogue inside the app is derived from the System Reference Document 5.1 by Wizards of the Coast LLC, made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Guide prices, categories and translations that are not part of the SRD are our own work.

9. Availability and changes

We do our best to keep the app running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Maintenance, technical failures and things outside our control happen. We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop offering the app entirely. If we shut it down for good, we will give you reasonable notice in the app so you can write down your party's balances first.

10. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that it will be error-free, that calculations will always be correct, or that your data will never be lost. It is a bookkeeping aid for a game, not an authoritative record. If the numbers matter to your table, keep your own note of them.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory Dutch or EU law.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost data, lost game progress, or any dispute between you and the other members of your party. Because the app is free, our total liability towards you is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is nil, except where damage results from our intent or gross negligence, or where mandatory consumer law says otherwise.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings → Delete account. What happens to your data when you do is described in section 11 of our privacy policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we are legally required to. Sections 6, 7, 10, 11 and 13 survive the end of this agreement.

13. Governing law

Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring the case before the court where you live.

If a provision of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force and we replace the invalid part with one that comes as close as possible to what it was meant to do.

We may update these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies; the date at the top tells you when it last changed. For changes that materially affect you, we will notify you in the app before they take effect.
